year in review [Dec. 15th, 2005|04:34 pm]
2005

January: "I don't really understand the idea of starting fresh with the new year."

February: "I'm done procrastinating. Forever."

March: "I've been in this airport for, oh, three hours now, and I've become relatively familiar with it."

April: "woo pit!!!!"

May: "on Saturday, during a tournament in Webster, we beat Newark. The starting pitcher for their team hadn't lost a game in two years."

June: "I was at the corner of elmwood and monroe the other day and I had the sunroof and the two front windows rolled down (they're actually the only two windows that you can actually roll down because it's a 2-door car, which is kind of strange and at times frusterating, but then other times it gives me a comforting feeling of seclusion because there are only two windows and I have complete control over both of them), and I stopped at a red light and I was just sort of absent-mindedly inching forward into the crosswalk like everyone does to try to catch the traffic light sensor to make it change faster but then I noticed that there were these tree blossoms floating around, and they were falling and swirling into my lap and my hair and onto the dashboard and I felt like I was in a movie, or at least in a scene that ought to have been in a movie, or like I was the eye of a storm of cherry tree petals (which is, quite literally, what it felt like, not that I've ever been in the eye of a storm, but if I ever am, I hope that it's something like that)." (hahaha, that was one sentence.)

July: "hi, everyone. I've been in Hilton Head for the past 5 days, and I kind of felt like I dropped off the face of the earth because I didn't tell a lot of people when or if I was going. But I'm back, and I'm really excited for summer."

August: "say it ain't so, Raffy." (Rafael Palmeiro steroid bust)

September: "freakin' SENIORS"

October: "The next time I see the Red Sox play, I will be 2 months away from graduating high school, hopefully accepted into some sort of college, and I will be a second semester senior. That's a fucking long time away."

November: "we'll become silhouettes when our bodies finally go."

December: "January: 'I don't really understand the idea of starting fresh with the new year.'"

funny how the year came full circle.

I cannot believe the selection of songs. I could not have made a better setlist myself. Every song I wanted to hear, he played. He conducted us during "Army" and "Not the Same" just like on "Ben Folds Live." I have been counting down the days 'til this concert since August; I have no motivation for anything now. but Jesus, what a show.

The next time I see the Red Sox play, I will be 2 months away from graduating high school, hopefully accepted into some sort of college, and I will be a second semester senior. That's a fucking long time away. God damn white sox.

say it ain't so, raffy

also, I'm going to interview at Dartmouth tomorrow. After that I'm visiting UPenn and going to a Cubs/Phillies game, where I will be seeing arguably the best player in baseball play. I'll probably be back around the 6th. Have a great week!

hi, I'm alive. [Jul. 1st, 2005|02:53 am]
hi, everyone. I've been in Hilton Head for the past 5 days, and I kind of felt like I dropped off the face of the earth because I didn't tell a lot of people when or if I was going. But I'm back, and I'm really excited for summer. I'm going to miss going to the beach every day to swim in the 80+ degree ocean, oogling at DILFs and HILTHAAWs, meeting randoms, and being surrounded by Southern accents, but making the best of this summer is going to be a blast. I'm interviewing at Dartmouth August 2nd. The Red Sox are in first place (2.5 games ahead of the Orioles), and the Yankees are tied for fourth with the Blue Jays. Life is good.

I'm running on 3 hours of sleep last night and a day full of busy-ness, and I'm looking forward to a tournament this weekend and lots of seeing-offs of various people. What are you up to this summer?

we just got digital cable, and there is an entire channel devoted to Nickelodeon Games and Sports (GAS) that shows reruns of all my favorite shows from the mid- to early nineties. I just finished watching a marathon of GUTS. I wanted to be on that show SO BAD. It was seriously my greatest fantasy as a kid - all I wanted to do was bounce off the arial crag and take home a piece of the glowing rock. sigh.

I've just really gotta freaking start this paper.

and get a 120 percent on my next math test so I can get an A.

all in the next hour (if I'm lucky).

I love band concerts more than a lot of things. Especially when percussion ensemble gets to play on pots, pans, and tin cans.
